Our story: How we turned our passion for sound into a successful family business

Today, BS ACOUSTIC is a successful manufacturer and supplier of sound, multimedia and lighting technology with almost 30 years of experience. At the beginning of our story, however, there was no budget of a hundred thousand or a well-thought-out business plan to dominate the market. In the beginning, it was mainly a passion. Love for quality sound and ambition to convey the experience of it to as many customers as possible. Let's look back at the time it all started.

The sound of a new era

The year was 1993, which had a flavor - or rather sound in our case, something new. Not only was it started with the establishment of an independent Slovakia, but it was also the year of the establishment of our family business, then an association of natural persons. The market has finally opened up and given opportunities for new ideas and opportunities. The founder of BS ACOUSTIC, Stanislav Baláž, decided to take the opportunity to capitalize on the many years of experience gained in the Tesla Valašské Meziříčí company, which was a major manufacturer of speakers with exports to the whole of Europe. And so the big dream of producing loudspeakers according to our own ideas, which are qualitatively close to renowned brands, began to come true.

Disco story

At that time, the popularity of discos, which needed professional technology, grew in the company. And that's where our successful "disco story" began. The initial intention of the newly established company was therefore the service and production of professional speakers, especially for regional music groups. We were driven by the desire to bring people the joy of music and quality sound that they may not have known before. We provided a complete supply of sound systems for bars and discos, to satisfy demand, we also added lighting equipment, without which no good "action" was possible at that time.

First employees and partners

The first two years passed like water and brought with them other exciting news. In 1994, the first employees joined the company, which enabled us to intensively start the development and production of professional hi-fi speakers. Three years later, BS ACOUSTIC's business activities expanded to include the import of foreign goods to Slovakia. The circle closed and one of the company's first partners was the Czech company Tesla Valašské Meziříčí, together with the Canadian company Accusonic Corporation. The cooperation with Tesla lasted for quite 20 years and the partnership with Accusonic continues to this day.

The new millennium

It is interesting how the main milestones of our company relate to important years. Another such moment was the year 2000, the arrival of the new millennium and at the same time the beginning of the construction of our new warehouses. Our company grew and the original storage capacity was insufficient. It was replaced by a hall with an area of ​​500 m2, which also included a production area with an area of ​​120 m2. This meant more room for new ideas and to meet growing market demand.

Hi-Fi boom

The world of sound technology is advancing very fast and, like other industries, is influenced by many trends. One of the really big ones was the era of Hi-Fi (short for High Fidelity) speakers. We produced high-quality Hi-Fi speakers and won awards with them at exhibitions such as Autosalón, CONECO or Elosys. An especially big boom was recorded by autohifi speakers. Our range has expanded to include active subwoofers, distribution of Delphi Grundig car radios and American Audiovox products. This era lasted about 10 years before carmakers began to install car radios and higher-quality speakers in cars.

Retail shop and e-shop

Years and experience grew, so we realized that the time had come for the next big step - the expansion of the stone shop. In 2005, we therefore expanded its sales area to the current 120 m2 and added a space in which we finally provide our customers with a quality musical experience - a new showroom. In our store in Radošovce, they can try and compare our products and choose the ones that meet their requirements. A year later, in 2006, we also expanded to the Czech market and established the company BS ACOUSTIC CZ based in Brno. We also launched e-shop sales, which again responded to changing market trends.

New assortment

At BS ACOUSTIC, we are constantly adapting to technological progress. We offer new products, expand production facilities, buy new machines and technologies. Today, we no longer sell so many passive speakers, but especially active speakers and players. Thanks to digital technologies and neodymium magnets, speakers are much lighter today than ever before. Their outputs reach thousands of watts and thanks to DSP systems, their quality is at a completely different level. Thanks to Bluetooth and wi-fi, it is also possible to control them from a mobile phone. We currently have more than 100 of our own products in our portfolio, which we develop, test and deliver to the entire EU. We have also expanded our offer with new brands from foreign suppliers - the English brands KAM and HILL-Audio, several brands from Lotronic in Belgium, Fonestar in Spain, SICA in Italy, Eminence in America and the latest German Adam Hall.

Various segments

Today, BS Acoustic is a manufacturer, seller and supplier at the same time. Our clients are no longer just professional DJs, musicians or sound engineers, but everyone who is looking for quality sound at an adequate price. We can satisfy the desires of music connoisseurs, but also ordinary music lovers. We offer professional sound services for schools and municipalities with our own VIVIS sound system, which we have developed at BS ACOUSTIC. We can sound quality shopping centers, cafes, hotels, stadiums or churches. We cooperate with installation companies and, as a supplier, we serve a network of partners, including renowned e-shops and retail chains operating throughout the EU. We must not forget the quality service of sound equipment, which we offer to our clients.

Still one family

Despite the huge growth of our offer and clientele, we still maintain the character of a family business. The Balážs have been the heart of the company since the beginning. Today, their daughter Michaela, who leads the marketing area, also belongs to the team. Our entire team currently consists of 10 people and several other collaborators and subcontractors.
